1. "Pollinator Bob" Faulkner coming to Birmingham.
Bob Faulkner has graciously agreed to come to the Birmingham Botanical Garden on Sunday, August 8th at 2:00 to speak to our CADS club. I wanted to get the word out so that anyone within driving distance can make plans to attend and see what Pollinator Bob has been up to and from what I hear he has been very busy. I remember hearing Bob for the first time in Dothan, AL in 2008 at the Spring Regional. Pat and Grace Stamile were scheduled for that meeting but due to illness they canceled and Bob Faulkner was called in at the last minute. Talk about being under pressure! Over 300 people expecting to hear the Stamiles and Bob Who is there instead. He said he was a nervous wreck but he did great as long as we let him keep his ball cap on...lol. We ooohed and ahhhed at his patterned diploids and I've been a big fan of his ever since. Can't wait to see his latest and greatest patterns. Maybe he'll even throw in a picture of Buzz and the bunny. So all of you folks out there in Region 14 (or any region for that matter) are invited to attend and I think I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. Maybe even Tommy Maddox might make the trip if he's not too busy still celebrating his birthday. It helps that he has a great granddaughter in Birmingham to visit. Here's the address for the Birmingham Botanical Gardens if you need directions: 2612 Lane Park Road, Birmingham, AL 35223, www.bbgardens.org Hope to see you there!
